The perfect example of how artists are exploited came earlier this month, according to Starr. YouTube was sold for $1.65 billion, and not a dime went to the content creators who helped make the site famous. Project # 3: Music Video

August 2nd, 2006

Project Description:
Plan, storyboard, shoot and edit a music video

You will conceive and create a music video using original footage that your group will shoot using cameras provided. Be sure to pick a song that will lend itself to a good story, good beats and something that you will realistically will be able to shoot footage for. Feel free to use extra cameras if you have them, but this is not required. Spend as much time in Pre-production as possible…Plan ahead, First, create accurate storyboards then come up with a “shot list” be as clear as possible of your vision, know what shots you will need and what it will take to get them. Hope for the best and plan for the worst, have back up plans for when something doesn’t go according to schedule. Be sure to get plenty of B-roll to fill in any gaps between scenes. Have someone in charge of taking notes and setting up/labeling the shots. After shooting is complete and footage is acquired, be sure to log all of your footage so you know exactly what you have (and what you don’t) this will make your edit decisions a lot easier. Manage your time wisely and don’t be overly ambitious or don’t get hung up on small details your time is limited. Have fun and be creative.
